Three years ago, the 5th version of the Iberoamerican Meeting on ionic Liquids (IMIL) took place in Santos, Brazil.

Considering that ionic liquids are leading an era of green and sustainable technology, the conference promoted a nice interaction between the Iberoamerican scientific communities working with ionic liquids, and to establish solid bases for academic and industrial collaborations.

Now, three year later, Ionic Liquids are still leading as sustainable and green solvents with many new industrial applications and cutting-edge findings that require a place to be discussed and that the new version of IMIL wants to provide. However, this time also Deep Eutectic Solvents appear as interesting alternative to organic solvents that we would like to cover in this congress.

This time the congress will be held from 23th to 27th of May 2021 in Santiago de Chile for the first time.

May offers a Mediterranean weather with soft temperatures and a wonderful snowy view of the Andes mountains. Indeed, fans of the great outdoors can head for the hills that surround the city and marvel at panoramic views of Santiago.

Santiago is a nice place to visit. It offers a very good connectivity with all the most important attractions, and also it is a city of big contrasts. For example, Sanhattan is a well-known business district which is only 15 minutes away from the city center district, where you can find Bellavista neighborhood, a bohemian area known for its colorful houses, fashionable restaurants and nightlife. Also, you can find beautiful and original art galleries, design shops and handicraft markets, as well as a great selection of restaurants, bars and cafes.

45 minutes from the airport, “Casa Piedra” will be the congress venue which is a nice and comfy place to share the latest results on ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents in different applications. Casa Piedra is located next to the Mapocho river, which provides a relaxing atmosphere for a congress.
